VW/Audi 3.0 V6 TDI Engine
Audi got a spotlight on the Discovery/Science Channel hit show “How It’s Made” last night. The episode will surely run over and over again to see so don’t worry if you missed out on the debut showing.
The segment shows spotlights the Audi Q7 TDI Clean Diesel and the manufacture of its 3.0 V6 turbo diesel engine. As typical with “How It’s Made”, it moves pretty quick but shows very well the process of building one of VW/Audi’s high tech power plants.
The narration is good to cover all the salient points of how the diesel engine works, how turbo charging makes it all happen all while giving a good show to the laboratory clean factory that makes them. In a short five minutes the assembly process is made to look so very easy. They then cut away to testing a Q7 on the chassis dyno and rolling it out of the plant.
All in all it is a good piece to watch out for as Audi continues to expand and market its TDI presence.
“American consumers are rapidly awakening to the advantages that TDI clean diesel technology can provide,” said Johan de Nysschen, President, Audi of America. “TDI is a ready-now solution to American concerns about fuel consumption and emissions. Programs, such as ‘How It’s Made’, can only build greater awareness of clean diesel’s modern practicality.”
