Ford 6.7 Powerstroke Diesel Engine Cutaway Photos

ddsc_0158At the 2009 SEMA Show, Ford showed off a lot of good things. One of the displays was their new 6.7 liter V8 turbo-diesel engine cutaway. The engine had sectioned cylinders, heads, and other major component areas which afforded an inside view of the all new Ford diesel engine.

Ford is very proud of this achievement as it is their first in-house designed, built, and engineered diesel engine. They have done extensive testing and proving of this new power plant to assure truck buyers that it will be reliable and durable. Those of course are the reasons they chose to build their own diesel in the first place as the last new Navistar sourced powerplants have given Ford and their owners fits if rage.

As you can see this new engine is stout and features a unique format of exhaust to center valley, intake on outer banks. This allows for easier turbo plumbing and less lag from the dual impeller sequential turbo unit.

We will let the photos tell the rest of the story….
