For the 2011 model year, Mercedes will introduce a diesel engined S-Class model to their line up in the United States. The 2011 S350 will use a 3.0 liter CDI V6 developing 241hp and 429 lb-ft of torque.
While the S-Class has been offered with a diesel for decades, and even in the United States a decade ago, the model will be the first of the “clean diesel” breed offered in the States.
The S350 will use the AdBlue urea injection technology to meet stringent emissions standards as do the other Mercedes Benz models in the US. The new S350 CDI will come with a 7-speed dual clutch transmissions and is said it will also be available with the popular 4Matic AWD system.
The European version of the S350 achieves 0-60 acceleration in 7.8 seconds and averages 25mpg combined city/highway. No information has been released yet on pricing or exact time of availability. But you should expect to see the 2011 Mercedes Benz S350 before the end of the year.
